Cedar & Paw Co

Most things do not fail because you were careless. They fail because the tool was built for a slightly different job than the one in front of you.

The reviews we read first

This is the raw material. Not the five star ones. The lines where somebody explains, usually badly, exactly where the thing let them down.

"I hated clipping my dogs nails because I was so affraid of hurting him."

Pet nail clippers

"My dog has black nails & it's very hard to see how far down i can clip his nails without making him bleed."

Pet nail clippers

"im not sure this kills them as much as makes them go somewhere else."

Fungus gnat spray

"You must be consistent with weekly spray as the little buggers hatch in the dirt about that often."

Fungus gnat spray

Reproduced exactly as written, spelling included. Tidying a review is the fastest way to make it sound like we wrote it.

What the reviews actually tell you

Read enough of them and the same shape appears. A brush only reaches the hair that has already worked its way to the surface. A clipper with no light asks you to see something you cannot see. A spray kills the gnats in the air and none of the eggs under the soil.

In each case the buyer did the sensible thing and it did not work, so they concluded they were doing it wrong. They were not. They were handed the wrong shape of tool.

The failure is structural. It is almost never the person holding it.

That is the whole reason this shop exists. Not to carry more options, but to carry the one version that answers the reason the last one did not work.

How we work

Four things we hold to

  • We read the bad reviews first

Hundreds per product, the three star ones as carefully as the five star ones. When the same failure keeps appearing, we go looking for the version that answers it.

  • One of each thing

If we cannot find a version that fixes the real problem, we list nothing. There is no filler on these shelves.

  • We tell you what it will not do

Every product has an edge where it stops working. It gets its own section on the page, before you ask. You are better off knowing before you buy than after.

  • Nothing invented

No statistics we cannot source, no studies that do not exist, no percentage on a page because it looks convincing.

Sixty days to disagree with us

Long enough to use a thing properly rather than test it once on the kitchen counter. If it does not do what we said, that is ours to fix.
